View Full Version : What word/phrase makes you think of old Macs?

I found this thread on a Japanese message board and thought it was pretty interesting. What word or phrase makes you think of classic Macs, or classic Mac OS?
Some examples: Daystar, Ram Doubler, Radius and eWorld.
For me, it would be Extention Manager or System Software.
(and no wise-ass answers like 'reboot', please.)

"Welcome To Macintosh"
Not sure which system that was under, but it appeared on startup while the Extensions loaded.
Come to think of it, just the word "Macintosh" makes me nostalgic. It seems that these days it's just called a "Mac".
I think the "Welcome to Macintosh" message was from Mac OS 7.1 up to 8.1? or 7.6.

When anyone mentions a computer I think of the Mac...but, there are some words when mentioned remind me of the good old days:
Unexpected error (Bomb)
Disk Tools (Disk First Aid, Drive Setup)
Extensions/Control Panels
Apple Menu Items/Chooser
Holding Shift @ Startup
Print Shop Deluxe, Easy Color Paint, & Reader Rabbit Math/Reading
ADB/SCSI/Serial...misc. old connections
And although they aren't words who can forget the Happy Mac and Startup chime! :D

Many trouble tickets we have at work start with LC, I often think of my little LC when I see them come in.
I have also setup rules and sounds for our ticket system that play various Apple Startup chimes, and Chimes of death, depending on the type of ticket, and the time it is due..
I now get to listen to my ipod and have apple sounds play when I am at work :)
