I used to love them, visited every day on my work PC at lunch. But somehow, sometime, somewhere, something went wrong. It started crashing IE (several different versions on several different computers with several different OSs), and sometimes I couldn't post to the forums. I realized there were other, better sites with the same, and sometimes more, info. And much better forums.

The final straw was when they had, as the top story right there at the the top of the front page, some story about how after the new 1.25 GHz G4 Towers were announced, there weren't anymore server towers. It was basically an e-mail or post from some random shmuck who said the xServes weren't good enough for what his customers needed, but that Apple stopped selling server towers.

Of course, you could still buy a G4 Tower and Mac OS X Server software seperately. And just like they always do, Apple later announced server towers, and released them a few weeks later. Duh. It was almost as bad as when MOSR was begging for an ATI Radeon 8500 with ADC (there is no such creature). Some "news" sites. Kind-of makes them seem a little less credible. Not that they were.

Someone once asked me how I would feel if they went away, and I told them I could honestly care less. Our "viewership" pays for their advertising and if they don't report something reliable or accurate, people don't want to read them. In this day and age, where you can get information everywhere, people are fickle. It's hard to build a following, but it's even harder to win people back after p*ssing them off.

You listening Apple?

I heard about it, went to it, and wasn't impressed.
Never liked their forums, just the general design of it plus there are way too many whiners.
I like the smaller population here at MR.
It's a bit more of a community, you actually get to know some of the members here cuz there's not nearly as many here as there are there at MacNN.
And some of those members need to get lives, there's one guy there with over 15,000 posts since Nov '01 I think.
I mean, being Ms. Spam is one thing, but 15,000 posts in less then a year is too much.
