samsung scx-4300 scan problem

hi,
is there anybody out there who is able to use scanner on their samsung scx-4300.

i have mac mini connected to samsung scx-4300, according to apple website, the software only supports for printing not scanning.
image capture says there is one samsung scx-4300 scanner, but when i click overview, it does not scan.

but my friend who is using macbook pro can scan from image capture, he doesn't have any idea why he can do it.

any ideas?

sorry i'm an ubernoob. just recently purchased mac mini.
