I'm looking at squeezing another 2 years out of my good ole' Blackbook and need a few opinions on what to do. Primarily this machine will be my on the road light Final Cut editing machine while my future 09-10 Pro (c'mon 2012 model!) will do most of the work.
At the moment I've been using the stock 5400 250GB HD and 4GB of ram and have been considering maxing out ram to 6GB and going the SSD boot + HDD route.
Would this be even worth bothering with since I'd have to use the optical drive's Ultra ATA which would require the use of a slightly slower HD? Should I just get one big 7200 drive and go from there?
Alternatively would I see any benefits from using Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drives as a boot/scratch disk over a lowly Sata 1 connection?
EDIT: Various sources say the maximum external screen resolution is 1900x1200, does this work in extended desktop?
