Comment: It's because of this song that I am forever banned from being the DJ at my mom's annual Easter party.

Duff-Man says...classic tune...I was lucky enough to see Iggy and the Stooges in Jan '74 on the Raw Power tour......those were the days. Pere Ubu did a great cover of this in their early days.....oh yeah!

Awesome. I had the chance to see Iggy in the 90's, but I decided not to because I really didn't want to see him without a shirt in real life -- it's gross enough on TV. I recently bought the DVD set of the old show The Adventures of Pete and Pete; he used to be a regular on the show and I always loved his character.

Too bad Bowie did to him what he does to all up-and-coming artists: uses them, then throws them away. Love Bowie's music, but hate the dude.

Haha, thanks. I just remember everyone stopped talking and started asking what the noise was on the stereo. They looked really confused, as if it was some kind of alien language or something. Next thing I know, my mom comes barging into the living room and started yelling at me, saying that everyone is going crazy because of the noise. The second I changed it (I believe it was to the Beatles), everyone continued as if nothing had happened.

Nice show - Iggy and Pere Ubu - Iggy is one of the few folks I would still enjoy seeing live.

I was young once, and in my youth I heard this song and thought: "What's so sexy about being a dog." I guess I had never really had it in the ear before.

Nuts. Ya don't know whatcha talkin' bout. If it wasn't for Bowie, Iggy wouldn't have a penny or be dead by now. Just ask Iggy himself. He considers Bowie to have been his only true friend. When Iggy checked himself into a mental asylum in LA, of all his "friends", only Bowie visited him, nursed him back to health - Iggy's own words. Plus, dude, Bowie co-wrote most of "The Idiot" and some stuff on other albums, not to mention produce "Raw Power" (you may like that production, or not, but Bowie did an outstanding job). Then, when Iggy went on tour, Bowie helped him out, just modestly in the background playing keyboards for him - got people to come out in droves, and when interviewed, he only pointed to Iggy and said "it's all about him". Sorry, but Bowie has been totally outstanding as an influence on Iggy's well-being, and a friend to Iggy. So, I'd say you are speaking from ignorance at best. As a side note, from everything we know, Bowie is a very nice person, and helpful to other artists - if you want more examples, I can easily provide them, with citations. Dude, don't spread nonsensical rumors which happen to be the opposite of the truth - thanks!
