I have an important question about the Text-to-speech synthesizer that is included with OS X. Have they given it an independent volume control?

This is coming from someone who is still on Snow Leopard. Whenever any 3rd party application invokes this feature - its always extremely lound at 100% the maximum volume. So unfortunately it never gets used for anything. But its such a great feature.

Yes it does, open universal access and you will see an option in hearing to adjust the volume.

Sure about that? Theres already a button just like you've described in Snow Leopard. It doesn't provide the feature I'm asking for ^^ above.

Just to be clear. If things are in the same place as previous versions of OS X. We expect to see options related to Text-to-speech being displayed in the "Text to speech" tab of the Speech preferences pane.

And 10.6 only had a slider for Speaking rate (Slow-Normal-Fast). Really appreciate knowing if this feature is improved in Mountain Lion. Or the current Lion even.
