Age of Empires III Mac help

Hi. I'm a new Mac convert and am an avid AOE III player, solo against the computer. I have purchased the Mac version of the game and the 2 expansion pacs and am trying to duplicate my PC experience. As part of the various "upgrades" to the software the simple text version of the pause icon gave way to a large boxed banner style one. I know purist of the game's play have no problem with this, but I'd love to go back to the old style text which you can do with a simple text cfg file on PC. Is there a way to do something similar on Mac and if so I'd appreciate instructions. As a side note, when you click on the menu screen during game play (at least in the Asian expansion) the simple pause text appears, but when pausing during actual game play the boxed banner appears. Any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks.
