What Plug-in do i need to play AVI movies on quicktime?

Hmm, this topic was discussed a lot of times. Perhaps we need a Sticky.

I use 3ivx, DivX and XviD.

I thought they all did the same thing. Should I get all three because there are still a few movies giving me grief.

They are different formats (don't know the exact differences though) but the 3ivx app should support all three of them at the moment.

Also, following link might be a nice supplement to movies that won't play sound. Works great for me 🙂

Any compatibility issues with Quicktime 7? They seem to be focussed on Quicktime 6.

The few .avi files that will not play on Quicktime 7 will generally play using either MPlayer or VLC.

Yes, I also use it, but couldn't find the link. I recommend using all 3, because you'll have less problems. BTW, I use QT7 and didn't have any problems yet.
