If the Apple Ipad2 refurbs were $419, a cool $80 less than new, then I wonder whether their price will drop to $319 since the new one dropped to $399.

If so, $319 is an awesome price for an Ipad2 with a full Apple warranty.

I agree - if all the new software works on the iPad2 as well. If you don't need LTE or care to deeply about a Retina display you should look for this. I plan on picking one up myself.

It is an awesome price, but I would not purchase an iPad 2 knowing the punch the new iPad packs. And this is coming from a previous iPad 2 owner.

The New iPad or bust.

Me too. I could care less about the new high resolution screen. My iPad 1 screen and the current Ipad2 screen were touted as being beautiful. Are they chopped liver now?

I guess next year Apple will some out with the "super Retina" display, or Infinity display.

Meh, the screen loosk great, and most of the extra power will likely go toward driving all those pixels, I don't care about tthe 3G/4G options... so the trade off is going to come down to high res screen and back to the iPad 1 wieght or $200 savings.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Can't wait for the store to come back online and see what the refurbs are going for.

Yes and what about used prices, they are going to drop. Timing is great, I am looking to get an iPad and if a refurb is 319.00 then what will a used one be worth ? 200-250 ?

I have yet to see a used iPad go for much less then the referb price. infact on ebay you usually see it cost much more then a refurb.

It's more about the price relative to what you get.

$349 is a steal for what the iPad 2 has to offer, but scrap together the extra $150 and you'll have that device x 2. I think it's a fair trade off.

Not knocking. Just offering advice.

I got into the store for about 2 minutes. 16gb refurbs of iPad 2 are at $349. 32gb are at $449, 64gb, you guessed it, $549. The store is back offline, so maybe they're reconsidering, lol. They didn't drop pricing on the iPad 1's that were left in stock this morning, 32gb was at $399 still. Trying to order 2 16gb, but can't get back in.

Strange but true. I sold my used Ipad1 on Ebay for more than what Apple was selling refurb iPad 1's for, and they included a warranty.

I think many do not know about the refurb store, or maybe it is not available in their country, or some people are just plain stupid!!!!

----------

They are $349 and the store is up now. That is a bargain!!!!!

When the store was "up" (and VERY slow) I checked out the refurb iPad page and the 16gb iPad 2 was listed at $349. And it noted that the price was "$50 off" so it appears they've already updated the price points (it also said "released March 2011" which I found interesting considering there is no change to that model besides price that I'm aware of)

Anyway, it's an interesting price point. I was mentally sold when I considered the $319 price point (I was hopeful the price would drop by $100). But at $349 I hesitate a bit. Which is silly because it's only a $30 difference. But at the same time, that $30 can go towards a case or other accessories.

Decisions decisions

It's the added .2lbs that kills me. I wanted lighter, not heavier. The "new iPad" is the same weight as the original iPad which is a brick next to the 2.

I just bought an iPad 2 16gb (REFURBISHED) for $349+tax with free shipping!

Had to get it off of the apple education store though.

Now that is a good deal. Add Applecare and its still less than the super duper new "retina" model....but for most people it is every bit as good.
I may pick one up tonight.
