Need help compressing a video file

Hi, I copied a video from vhs to my mac. It is in .mpg format. It is like 30 seconds long, and it is almost 60 mbs. I can't post it on a website because it is too big. How can I make this file smaller??? what program could i use to compress it, or any other suggestions??? please help!!!!!

pop it into iMovie and share it that way

expert mode , mpeg4 and h264 for best results 30 secs will be under 10mb
 
You can export from quicktime too and set the quality levels to manage the size of the resultant file.
