I've got an old G5 (dual 2.0Ghz) which only powers up intermittantly. Sometimes when I press the power button, nothing happens. Sometimes it does start up fine. Once it's on, it's on and stays on.
Wake up from sleep can be the same problem: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.
What could it be? Power supply?
I thought about getting an old G5 from eBay for spares (for $10-20), trying my luck with a different power supply. Could I use ANY power supply from any old G5? (for example one from a single 1.6 GHz machine)? Or did the wattage change?
I know it may not be worth all the effort. But I thought about using it as a server machine (small office setup/photography) & for printing large format prints.
