How to make a Trash folder in Apple Mail for deleted messages?

I imported my email from Outlook 2003 (WinXP) -> Apple Mail (Mac OS X).

I am used to the Outlook way of deleting messages. I delete a message on it, it goes in Deleted Items folder, and I can drag it back if I so please.

How can I make Apple Mail act the same way as that? Currently, seems like when I delete something in Apple Mail, it disappears forever.

Just make sure that "Move deleted messages to separate folder" is checked in Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts -> (repeat for all accounts) -> Mailbox Behaviors, and that the "Erase deleted messages" drop down menu is set to Never.

Then look in your Trash mailbox/folder... 😉

Hmm... that's strange, Mail always had a Trash for me by default, check in the preferences (Menu Bar -> Mail -> Preferences)
