Been looking at varies movies recently and cannot understand why there are

differences between UK and US stores??

I wanted to buy Moneyball and to my disappointment its 13.99 and 720p :(

In the US store it $19.99 and is in 1080p

I can understand some issues with studios selling movies in different countries,

but this is the SAME movie but only available in the UK at a lower resolution.

Anyone have any idea why?

Many UK rights holders do not want Apple selling 1080p versions of their content, clearly.

All movie content takes time to move from the US store to the UK. It seems that there are a lot of negotiations that have to be repeated for each country. The film studios seem reluctant to move to digital distribution, but if one decided to take the lead and go for it, they would have a massive head start in the almost inevitable switchover.

Why be happy taking the money for 720p content but not 1080p?

I thought if you were happy for apple or any other distributor to sell your

movies then the higher the quality of that content the better. Clearly not though

and has put me off buying it through the UK store, especially when i know its

not the best quality i can get and have devices that can play the best resolution

You don't seem to be able to buy ANY movies on the Apple TV in the uk, only rent.

You can buy films through iTunes, but not the TV :(

that's because Movies are not available as part of "iTunes in the Cloud" in the UK.
