Just be careful if you order from Amazon. The SmartSuit has been completely redesigned for the iPad 3. Look a few pages back at my pics, where another member noticed the huge difference in the rear shell. It offers way more protection than their previous version. Many vendors on ebay and amazon, seem to be passing off old cases as compatible with iPad 2 and 3 because they are similar in size. However, the true dimensions do differ, as does the magnet polarity. With that being said, if the Amazon seller can guarantee it is indeed the NEW design, then you could go for it.:)

I ordered mine from Amazon. Fits my new ipad perfectly. don't have the smartsuit2 so i can't compare but the fit for me is good and the magnets work well. I ordered from Amazon, not J&R or Antonline.

What color did you get? I was looking for a black one from amazon because I have $20 in promo dollars and they are out of stock...I do see bronze ones direct from amazon though. Also did you order when it was out of stock at the time?

Did any males actually buy and keep the bronze? I'm having second thoughts because of evryne saying its really feminine looking. I personally think it looks awesome in the pics.

Now I am a bit worrying. Ever since I bought the iPad with 4G LTE, I bring it with me everywhere, e.g. commuting, at work, and traveling. I will have to see when it arrived. Shamed that the local Apple Store doesn't stock a bunch of 3rd party cases. I'm in the 30s and working in IT. :p

I got the black one. They say out of stock (I ordered mine when it said out of stock) but they shipped it 3 days after I ordered it.

I got my black model from Amazon (via ANTOnline.com), and just received it yesterday. I'm really, really happy with this case!

It had a slight smell similar to a new pair of tennis shoes or something, but I stopped noticing it after only a few hours out of the packaging.

I recall there were some questions about which exact version ANTOnline was shipping. I can confirm that the one I received offered the more extensive protection around the bottom of the iPad, as seen in these pictures (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=14704287&postcount=207). This is NOT like the bottom that is shown in the product images on its Amazon page (http://www.amazon.com/The-Joy-Factory-SmartSuit3-CSA103/dp/B007M4ZGZG/ref=pd_ybh_1).

Joy factory told me the joyful wish cases will ship on either Friday or Monday.

I changed my order from soft gray to black since I felt the soft gray might be a bit effeminate in combination with a white iPad.

I received the bronze color 2 days ago.

For some reasons, there's a glue stain left from the factory as you can see on the last picture.

Is the colour on the pictures the same as in real life?

The glue on the last picture would bother me.

It is a little shinny. I tried one of the color picker iPhone apps and the color ranges were everywhere. Something like RGB: (103, 92, 82) to (159, 146, 128) http://www.colorpicker.com/

I'll have to see after I came back from the trip.

Does anyone have their Connect-the-Dots or Joyful Wish case yet?

What is the exact ship date for the Connect-the-Dots?
I am waiting on the Vintage Khaki Connect-the-Dots (in Europe, so it will take some time to get it...).

I spoke to someone at the Joy Factory yesterday on the phone. The guy told me that as of yesterday, those cases were scheduled to ship later this week (via FedEx). They're in California, I'm in Virginia, so maybe I'll get it next week.

I received the joyful wish case yesterday. It is well made. I like the back magnets.

3 problems:
1) Outer material feels like cheap low quality vinyl. It doesn't feel like leather at all. It is also slippery like cheap vinyl/PVC. And hard as opposed to supple to the touch.
2) back cover doesn't fold flat
3) the stitching on the front in practice looks a bit girly.

Does the outer material quality bother you much?
Do you regret buying the case because of it?

The case does look good, though a little girly. If you click on the first pic I posted, so it goes to full size, you will see that the embroidery is a bit much.

The material quality is the big issue though. I don't want the case to feel padded, but I do expect the material to have a natural suppleness and grip to it. My old Melkco slimme case feels much better and is also thinner. The only problem with that case was the magnets didn't work properly (iPad 2 compatible magnets, no back magnet).

I do regret buying it and unfortunately I left the packaging out this morning and my cleaning lady has thrown it away!

Now I am considering to cancel it.

I have the black JF case. The material is textured, and has a "grippy" feel to it. After almost a month of use, I really still love it. I do believe on their website, that they specifically mention the cases are not leather. I find mine practical, comfortable to hold, and very easy to keep clean.

For what it's worth, if I could change my case,I would switch to the black smart suit 3. The lack of grip and cheap feel of the case I got is not acceptable. This may be one of those cases where the cheaper model is better.

I picked up a black smartsuit3 today. I like it for the most part, though I have a couple of minor complaints.

Firstly, the cover doesn't really fold or stay folded into a triangle as strongly or positively as my leather smart cover did. It tends to flop open if I am using the iPad on my lap and attempt to shift the iPad around on my leg. The leather smart cover's magnets seem stronger. I'm hoping the the Joy's 3 seams will soften up over time.

Secondly, I wish this thing was genuine leather. It looks nice, but being PU, my hand gets kinda sweaty from holding it for any length of time.

Thirdly, the thin strip of plastic around the volume button is a little flimsy. If I grab the iPad on that spot, the plastic shifts away from the edge of the iPad. I suppose this is impossible to avoid without making the lip of the case much stiffer and thicker.

Finally, if I flex the cover at all, it sounds like the glue used to adhere the microfiber to the core of the cover is coming unstuck...it's a crunchy ripping sound. This doesn't give me much confidence that the microfiber will remain flat and unbuckled over time.

It's a very decent case, but at the end of the day, I feel it's priced about $20 too high.

I took my case on 2 flights today. The case is unstable and it fell of the tray table 3 times. After that I started holding it.

I consider this case useless at this point and want my money back.

I just returned mine to amazon. I did like a few things on the case, like the magnets that held the smart cover back and the overall thinness of the case itself. I didn't like how easy it was to move the front cover and the creases on the case would always bunch up on the front and back. If you turn the case upside down (even though there is no practical reason to) you can see how much the case droops (due to gravity of course). I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think the apple smart cover drooped like this and did not really like that. Overall, it was a decent case, but way overpriced. I may look at the Bridgeway by Devicewear next due a half decent price and shell + smart cover design. I have the switcheasy canvas and like it, but there are a few quirks with that too. Trying really hard to find that perfect case.

My silver Smart Suit for iPad 3 arrived from Amazon today, $52, no tax, free shipping. I love the way it looks with my white iPad! I also have an iFrogz Summit and Belkin Cinema Stripe which I also like for varying reasons, mainly because I like folio-stand type cases to watch movies, etc. but this one is nice for lap surfing and is by far the sleekest of the three and has the most attractive aesthetic design. Very, very nicely made and oh so slim!:)

Whew I just finished reading this entire thread and am about to pull the trigger on the Smartsuit3 but have a couple questions:

1. I am thinking of getting the (White/Silver), to those who purchased this color any problems with it darkening or the back end getting crusty from dust or dirt? I keep my things clean for the most part but be it in a backpack or what not there's dust everywhere.

2. Has anybody dropped their iPad in the case, did it protect it at all?

3. I have a back skin on my iPad do you think it would or wouldn't fit? How snugly does it fit? I hope I don't have to pull it off but if I have to I probably will.

4. Lastly are there any coupons around for the Joy Factory site, where is it cheapest to purchase? Amazon is a 1-2 month wait.

I cannot answer the first 2 questions, because I have the black cover, and have thankfully, never dropped my iPad.
As for your skin - the fit is very snug, so I doubt it would work. The promo code I used when I ordered mine was "m2pTLd9Z", but keep in mind that this was back in March. I ordered directly from the JF site, as the code did not work for Amazon.
Good luck, you will totally love this case!:)

Thanks Lauren still works and in case it doesn't spoke with them over the phone and if you like them on Facebook you get 15% off as well. It's a bummer to hear that the skin may not work my fear is because with my original iPad the inner case scratched my device up pretty bad before. That is why I now always have a skin underneath my cases, should the inner case not be a problem though no sharp corners and smooth fabric?

As for my other question can anybody out there with the white version chime in has the white outer bezel/material scratched or got really dirty thus far?

I had a SS 3 and returned it as well. The so-called back magnet was pretty much useless for me because it would flop off half the time, the folding segment didn't lie flat and the whole thing was overpriced by about $30 for plastic (PU vinyl). If you want a case where the cover really STICKS to the back when in book mode ... I mean REALLY sticks, check out the Devicewear Bridgeway. IF it had the same "leatherlook" (but even if it was the same stinky PU) fake leather finish as the SS 3 it would be an A+++ but it only has a smooth matte finish so it's only an A+ ... but it's half the price. It was my 4th case but I finally found the one for me. Now if they made it (the Bridgeway) in REAL leather it would be perfect. The Smartsuit 3 was a major disappointment for me and I got in on the first shipment.

I've only had my silver one about a week but my iPad gets heavy daily use and gets knocked around, taken in car, put in bags with other items, etc., and I see no evidence of scratching, etc. Magnets work great, cover folds back flat. It's just an awesome, good-looking slim case. I haven't changed my mind about the SS3 thus far; it's my favorite case of many cases purchased in two years of iPad generations.:)

Perhaps they were redesigned seems from the thread you're the only one that has the back end magnet not work and flap closed? According to the company this was normal. There are 2 others complaining about the same issue in this thread (when the case is folded back it doesn't lay flat). The magnet when folded back would hold if you held on to the cover to flatten it but would not hold well if you held it in the specific position I needed it to. To me, for $70 (+shipping) I stand by my OPINION. For about 1/3rd the price I got twice the case. The SS 3 looked better seeing it was textured PU vinyl as opposed to smooth matte vinyl but for $70 I expected much more. If it were $35-$40, which is what I feel it is worth, I would have looked at it differently.

Of course YMMV.

I see, yea shipping is high and it's a bit pricey but thought what the hell won a few bucks at casino so not worried about it. When I have my cover folded back I've always got a left or right hand on the back holding the cover down, so hopefully that and with the magnet it stays down. The Devicewear Bridgeway looks good but it'd annoy the heck out of me turning on/off when just held in your hand or just slightly moved.

Ugh. I got out of a cab the other night, not realizing my iPad was on my lap instead of in my bag. I had the Joy case on it. It fell out of my lap onto the street. I thought it skidded at first, but when I got home, closer inspection revealed 2 nasty dings on the bottom corner, in a spot that was ostensibly protected by the case.

Certainly, other cases would have protected it even less, but given the fact that the corners are fairly well covered by this case, my faith in the Joy in terms of protection is now pretty much non existent.

Yeah, it was Batman that ordered the Melkco. Sorry about that.

I've bought and returned so many cases (mainly due to just awful quality) it's hard to keep track of and then I'm running into vendors taking forever to process refunds.

But thankfully I'm finished searching and have happily landed on my two favorite cases that are really so different and I like them both for their differences - the Bridgeway and the Yoobao Executive.

I heard about that issue and emailed Devicewear before I finally ordered it. They said it was an issue where "some of the cases were more sensitive than others" and offered to check it out for me before shipping which they did. I don't have that issue at all with mine and specifically tested for it when I got it. Besides, it rarely gets carried more then a few feet between rooms so it wouldn't have been a major issue if it were present. My iPad is more like a house cat then an outdoor cat. :D

I have got the Khaki Connect-the-Dots case.
I love it, besause it looks and feels nice, works good as stand and a lot of other good things. (my opinion...)
The magnets on the back are not super strong, but strong enough in my opinion.
And it doesn't fold flat, but that doesn't bother me.
So I think it is a very good case!

I guess your iPad is certainly defective now afterall... you should have cried about durability instead of display.

I'm flattered you'd venture all the way out of the iPad forum to stalk me and yet again add your special brand of insipid commentary. Wait, did I say flattered? I meant creeped out. It must be a rich fulfilling life you lead.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like a really nice case, I'm looking forward to getting it. It would've been nice if it did fold flat though, but it shouldn't really be a problem. I ordered the black one.

Someone on this thread mentioned that the material of the joyful wish case felt very cheap and wasn't very good, and I assumed that it was the same material as the connect the dots case. Turns out its not though.

Can you guys elaborate so basically if I have the case open and folded back it wouldn't be able to lay/sit on my lap as the back doesn't lie straight? It doesn't fold back and lay flat down on a surface e.g a table? I'm starting to have some regrets now

No they're not the same. Here's the link to the review:

You can also tell if you look closely at the pictures on the joy factory website.

I just purchase my first iPad (new) and so far I love it. After reading the reviews I ordered a black Joy smart suite 3 case from Amazon. I've heard comments that the new iPad can run a bit hot. I'm just curious do you think having a full body case could negatively effect the iPad's self cooling ability?

This case was NOT as I expected maybe it's isolated to a few of us only but I've got the same problem as the poster above my front cover when folded back in book mode does not stay fully flat like I would like. I mean if I'm holding it very firmly with 2 hands it does stay down but if holding with one hand it somewhat slides down off the magnet slightly, and the bottom section kind of bulges out if not squeezed with a firm grip. I am getting a RMA on Monday and sending it back. If it were 30-40 or 50ish I would probably keep it but for nearly 70 bucks it shouldn't do that.

Yes, that is what I was talking about when saying that I'd doesn't fold back flat. It doesn't really bother me much as I hardly use my iPad in portrait but they could have easily avoided this problem. All it needs is a larger hinge so it folds over better. I'm not sure what you mean when you say it slides down off the magnet but i don't think I have that problem.

I guess it could but the good thing for me has been that I don't feel the heat so much when holding my iPad 3 in the case and mine does get rather warm which was an annoyance for me. But yeah, I've wondered about that. I got the Apple Care + for this very reason. Also, I think if they start having battery life issues with the new warmer-running iPad, those problems will affect most everyone and Apple will have to address/rectify them so I'm not going to spend time worrying about it!

Exactly yea could have been avoided with a bigger latch, maybe itll stretch out over time who knows. Im leaning towards the Bridgeway though.

I would really appreciate seeing photos, as well as your impression of the case now that you've had it a few days. I love the look of the Vintage Blue, but am concerned about how far back it folds for book mode, the cover closing and staying closed. With so many returning it, I've pretty much dropped it from the list, but...

Thank you! :)

I really like the Smart Suit. My local Micro Center had both it and the Dots one. I did not care for the Dots version at all. I used the Smart Suit case for almost 30 days in black and it performed very well in my travels and work use. Ultimately though it began to tear just slightly at the joints for the smart cover and the back casing. I was inside the 30 days to Micro Center so I took it back. I ended up with an Incipio Feather and leather Smart cover I purchased off the bay for less than the Smart Suit.

I'll try and upload the photos today. It's perfectly fine folded back in book mode and the magnets that stop it from flapping are really useful.

The thing about it folding back flat is really not an issue at all, and the majority of cases will have that problem too, so I wouldn't let that put you off.

I have the case in black. The material feels really good and the case overall looks great. To be honest, I don't think you will find anything better. I had been looking for a case for ages and eventually settled on this one (joy factory connect the dots) which is near perfect for me.

Also, when you're holding it you don't notice it. The magnets that keep it stuck to the back are really useful; there aren't many cases that have this feature. That's one of the reasons I went for it.

I agree with you totally, about this being the perfect case. I have the SmartSuite 3 in black, and am very happy with it. Why anyone would need the cover folded flatter than what is depicted in your pictures, is beyond me, considering the many other great features of this case.

Well, no one "needs" a case at all or "needs" to have dessert or "needs" a Rolls instead of a Mercedes. :)

Point is you pay premium (overpriced IMO) price (~$70) for an item where there are dozens of other ones out there for $15-$30 that don't have this issue so obviously it was carelessness in the manufacturing process. Be it a case or a car or an iPad itself, the "fit and finish" should be as close to perfect as possible and the more expensive it gets the more care one would expect should go into it's manufacturing. Had it been $15 or $20 I wouldn't really have cared based on "it's cheap, what can I expect."

My reason was that it looks silly with a hump on the top. It looks like there is something wrong with it and it shouldn't for $70+. That plus the fact the magnet didn't stick that great when folded back were my reasons. I found another case with a back magnet 2x as strong and that was perfectly flat when opened or closed for half the price which proved to me that with a little effort in the manufacturing process this truly could have been MY perfect case.

Would you have accepted your iPad if when you opened the box the front glass was slightly protruding from the frame on one corner or the back had a mar under the surface ?

After reading all the threads and searching and asking questions, and returning a Poetic case to Amazon, I bought this through B&H. It arrived yesterday, and... it is perfect. Completely perfect!

The color is amazing... it is a deep slate grey blue. The faux leather is soft and matte, and really does feel like leather. There was no smell at all.

The magnets are strong. Super strong! I really have to pull it open. The cover when folded back in book mode easily stays back because of the magnets without holding it, yet they do not cause the wake/sleep to happen when folded back. When the cover is closed there is very little give, I have to work to move it around enough to get the sleep/wake to happen. When I hold it so that the cover is facing down it stays attached, whether it is closed or folded back.

It folds back almost completely flat, moreso than in huzaifa93's photos.

Reading through this whole thread again before posting this, it seems that perhaps The Joy Factory may have some QC issues that there can be such discrepancies. I'm so glad that I was lucky, and received a perfect case! :)

Mine tore as well and I took it back. You can find my post 1 page back and see where I reported this. I loved the case but after less than 30 days of use I has a small tear where the smart cover joins the back casing. It was not bad but I could see it getting worse over time. I'm back to using an Apple OEM and a Feather now.

Do you think it was a manufacturing defect, or it got caught on something and the material is a bit more fragile than it seems? That's great they are replacing it!

I'm wondering how much I should baby this one.

The tear isn't as bad as I imagined, though it would bother me, too. You could patch it until you get the replacement case, so it doesn't tear more.

Of course they need to send the correct case, but I wonder how they compare. Are they the same, other than the lines of dots?

Oh no, they're not the same at all. The smartsuit feels quite rough and the material is quite hard as opposed to the soft "leather". When folding back into a triangle, it's really quite stiff due to the different material used. Maybe it'd just need to break in a little. It's still a nice case though. It's More durable than the connect the dots, although it doesn't look and feel as nice.

About the tear, it is actually quite minor, and it doesn't look like it's gonna get worse.

I have the Connect-the-Dots Vintage Khaki for a few weeks now.
I totally love the case, the colour is perfect and the I think the quality is very good.

But the connection between the front and the cover cover seems weak...
Did anyone's case tear on the back?

Another question, could anyone post a picture of the Connect-the-Dots Vintage Blue?

The connection between the front and back of my case seems perfectly fine. My case did tear, which I have shown pictures of in this thread, but I got a replacement. I got to keep the torn one as well which is a bonus.
