Hi guys and gals,

ive always wanted to know this so ill get straight into it.
What code is used to programme...(e.g. java/html 5):

  1. Apps on iOS devices
  2. Games for xbox/ps3/pc
  3. Programmes on computer such as adobe software

just a simple answer for each is fine unless.... the answer is a long and complicated one.

1. Objective-C

2. *Usually* C++ but you have to have a developer kit to make games for XBox or PS3 which is extremely expensive and isn't just something you can purchase, you have to apply for it. That being said XBox and I *believe* PS3 have homebrew options for indie developers. For XBox you can program in C# and XNA, for PS3 I'm not sure. PC its usually C++ unless you are using an engine then you usually do scripting of some sort.

3. Usually this is done in C++

That being said, there isn't usually specific languages for specific types of programs. Some languages just lend themselves better to certain types of programs than others.

3. Will most likely be Objective-C on a Mac, C++ or C# on a PC.
