Here's the deal:

-80 some odd minutes of footage shot on Canon T3i
-Exported as a Quicktime Movie (H.264)
-Came out to about 900 MB

-I try to burn a DVD; it tells me it will take 8+ hours

-I try compressing the .mov into an MP4; it only made it bigger

What can I compress it into to make it a smaller file size and thus more manageable to burn a DVD? I need to burn a bunch.

Thanks in advance for reading/ helping.

Yes, a video DVD.

And I exported from Final Cut Pro 7

Then you have Compressor and DVD Studio Pro, don't you?

If so, Send the sequence to Compressor, apply a DVD preset of your choice (depending on length and quality) and then import those two files (.m2v and .ace) into DVD Studio Pro and make a video DVD.
There are plenty of guides on how to do so available via www search and YouTube. And you also have the manuals, which can get into more detail.

I only have a small guide on how to use Compressor 4, but the same principles apply.

You should have converted it to Pro Res upon import to FCP7.
After the edit you should have exported QuickTime movie with sequence settings.
Then opened compressor and selected to transcode to m2v and ac3 via the "DVD: Best Quality 90 minute" preset.
Bring into DVD studio pro, drag your two assets into into the graphical tab, right-click and select first play.
build and burn.
Done.
