Help with DVD Burning?

Here's the deal:

-80 some odd minutes of footage shot on Canon T3i
-Exported as a Quicktime Movie (H.264)
-Came out to about 900 MB

-I try to burn a DVD; it tells me it will take 8+ hours

-I try compressing the .mov into an MP4; it only made it bigger

What can I compress it into to make it a smaller file size and thus more manageable to burn a DVD? I need to burn a bunch.

Yes, a video DVD.

And I exported from Final Cut Pro 7
