The Plextor PVR for Mac is not a bad alternative, about a hundred bucks cheaper (about $200 new.) It doesn't have a remote, uses USB 2 instead of Firewire. But they both use the Elgato software as well is hook into TitanTV. I think the Plextor has some more encoding options (Divx).

Yeah, looking at my needs (wants), I think the eyeTV Wonder USB 2.0 will be all I need. I was just excited to see anything elgato listed, as I can't find more than 1 or 2 anywhere! (eBay included)

I don' think the EyeWonder does hardware encoding. The one I'm talking about is the Plextor ConvertX PVR (names get confusing)-

Hardware encoding is much better, this way if you are recording shows to your computer your computer doesn't have to compress the video stream. The EyeTV 200 has a hardware encoder and is probably great, but is more expensive.

Thanks for the heads-up! That's a spec that I missed somehow! (Read the MacWorld Reviews)
Though, I think I'm running into the same supply issue for used units.

Yeah, whatever you'll find is probably close to retail anyway, or even more than the best online retail price.
