Productivity:

Dropbox: file management (unfortunately without rename functionality)
GoodReader: for iCloud file management and (easy) annotation
PDFExpert: for more difficult/ambitious annotation
Pages: for creating documents/letters

Social/News:

Tweetbot for iPad (Twitter): to stay informed - my personal news channel
Facebook: to keep in touch with my friends
Flipboard: to get the best of all worlds in one app
Instapaper: for reading saved articles

And of course the build-in apps: iMessage, Mail, Calendar, Reminders, Notes

These are Apple freebies, great stuff:

Remote (if you have a shared iTunes library or an AppleTV it’s a must have)
iTunes-U
iBook

Some current games we’re having a blast playing:

Swordigo (highly recommended if you’re a fan of ol’ school Zelda/Mario, was mirroring to the 54” plasma last night!)

I feel like an app hoarder, I have so many. But, these are the ones I'm most obsessed with:

-Slippery Seal (great new game as addictive as Angry Birds and so cute: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/slippery-seal/id499638045?mt=8)
-Scramble with Friends, Words with Friends, Sudoku
-Tripadvisor (I travel and this is a great place to go for hotel reviews, etc)
-ESPN (All the scores, and easy to keep up with games while they are playing)
-Kindle (great for reading)
-News: Zite, CNN, NPR, Flipboard
-Music: Spotify, Pandora, NPR Music
-Movies/TV: Hulu, Netflix
-Productivity: Dropbox, Evernote

I ended up downloading Evernote, Crackle, and Tripadvisor so far. Some of my favorite apps are

Garageband (even though is seems a little harder than the mac app and I'm still trying to learn it)

CNN

USA Today - I find myself now reading the news more than I ever have

Gmail - it got bad reviews, but I like it

iReal b - for learning music

Dropbox

My favorite games are:

Jetpack Joyride and Words with Friends.

AppAdvice - Never see anyone recommend this app. I've had it since my iPad 1 and it used to be free, but if it's $5 or less, totally worth the money...app reviews, app sales, app lists (IE apps for musicians, or apps for artists).

Zite - I'm on Zite at least twice a day, great way to get news by category that you select

Notability - my favorite note taking app I've tried yet...love the organization ability this thing has

Zinio - Magazines

Splashtop - Remote desktop - audio can be setup to come through iPad speakers

Kindle

Slingplayer - see Directv anywhere (it requires a Slingbox)

Pulse - great news/blog reader

Sirius XM - love the favorites page that shows what is playing on other channels

Rowmote Pro - great for controlling Mac mini while on the couch

Eyetv - similar to Slingbox, but has ability to record to mac from Directv

Nighstand - use this for my clock each night

Aquarium

Audiotap - streams ALAC iTunes library in high bitrates (they need an iPad specific app, though.)

All of the Apple apps - Remote, Safari, iPhoto, etc..

Denon app -for controlling receiver without remote

Okay no particular order..

Goodreader: wow, value for money, tonnes of functionality, has replaced the dropbox app, PDF reader and displays documents more fluidly than pages. Allows abuse of trial program's which only allow 1 file to be stored too (chmlite). Ridiculous value.

Avplayerhd/ecplayer: either of these babies destroys the opposition on anything other than stylised mkv subs....

Sub video: the ultimate player for stylised subtitles anime or media. Drop a few files into a 5 sec converter and boom! Where every other player and conversion method failed, this was amazing.

Mangastorm - manga for free from many different sites. Thank you!

Evernote: fantastic app

Reminders: it's alright tbn... It's nice for listing revision ATM

So what are your favorite iPad apps so far and what do they do??

For games it would have to be Math Mage! I reviewed it for my site and it is good. You solve math equations to get power to dissolve beasts for what seems a very long time - for me anyway - LOL

My top 7 favorite iPad app till i have used it. All my favorite app are really enjoyed and useful to me. here it is

1)Temple run
2)iWedplanner
3)Angry Bird
4)Facebook
5)Mirrors edge

The best app and useful app is to me is "iWedPlanner". I like iWedPlanner. It is a nice wedding app for organizing the wedding planning in an efficient way and within the budget. It has many features like seating arrangement, RSVP, resources, to-do list and more. You download this from Appstore and install it.

I decided to try using only my iPad for a year and see if I can get along with only my desktop and iPad. Here are the apps that I find to be my top used apps:

1. FileBrowser
2. Mercury Web Browser
3. GoodReader
4. Pages
5. Designs for Pages
6. HootSuite
7. Google Apps
8. PayPal
9. Stanza
10. Talkatone

Great suite for getting basic (and sometime more) business related jobs done. It keeps me in touch and I can monitor everything from my iPad.

I found out today at work that Remarks is THE killer app for me. Simply unreal. The writing is super smooth and fluid, even on my 1st gen iPad, the PDF anotations are super simple, the whole app is for sure worth the 4.99 price tag. This app is killer.

Olive Tree BibleReader ... see youtube for all this offers

Notes Plus for handwriting (UPad deserves mentioning here)

FlipBoard and Zite are excellent special interest browsers

iFiles (for remote file organization / viewing / retrieving / from cloud services like dropbox, you're own ftp-server, FaceBook, Google Docs, Picassa, MobileMe, WebDav, Amazon, etc etc etc ... )

ArtStudio => for anyone wanting to get a little serious with doing digital artwork on the iPad

Photogenie for photo editing (although iPhoto is also good)

Evernote

EBay is sweet and very responsive with it's recent updates -> almost better than regular web browser.

Kindle

EASY BOOKS => AWESOME double-entry financial business software for anyone running a small business and wanting to keep track of profits, and categorized overhead expenses, invoicing regular accounts, managing payments, etc ... (May take a little bit to customized it's default template, but becomes more and more intuitive to use everyday. Very easy and organized. Also, makes filing at tax time very easy ... )
