Cool first reply. Um, Apple should really have a multi-click mouse. But theyre should also be a control panel that u can choose between i and 2 clicks. Airport on the motherboard could make more expensive than its already is. Bluetooth would be great. Theyre should only be like 1 firewire & usb 2.0(hopefully) on the front. What do u think?:)

Repackage MS Intellimouse Optical (5-button w/scroller) as an Apple product -- it's not as artistic as Apple's one-button toy mouse, but hey! who cares?

Well, a naked woman (dependent on your preference of course)...
I see a few posts about mice, but if you want one, there are lots already available that work perfectly with Macs. It would be nice to see the Apple logo on a mouse so complicated, you'd need a University class to understand it. Besides my regular beautiful Apple - click anywhere mouse/hold for context menu - I have have a built in mousepad on my PowerBook G4 800 MHz, a WheelMouse Optical USB mouse, and a ShuttlePRO which I've programmed to work with most of my apps.
As for anything else ... more of that Roswell crashed UFO technology is always good, and one more thing, an autographed picture of Steve Jobs.

For a PowerMac/iMac USB ports on the front make sense. Alhtough, on the iMac, the side would be okay as well and might make more sense depending on where the keyboard is. Also, on the iMac you want to make sure that cables wouldn't get in the way of the optical drive.
For the iBook/Powerbook, on the side makes more sense.

What I don't understand is why so many want multibutton mice - you can go buy one if you don't like the mouse that comes with the system, I did.
The other hardware options are much more important, especially front ports. Hooking up a camera or even an iPod would be made much more simple. And having the wireless network items directly attached to the mobo makes for a cleaner system.
The only thing I see happening in the near future, though, might be the bluetooth.

I voted for bluetooth, because it's the one that seems most likely to really happen. It's good to see that this poll is pretty evenly divided between what people want though.

I want monitor spanning an option built into every Mac. Yes, the PowerMacs and PowerBooks can do it, but the iMac doesn't even have a hack allowing monitor spanning.
Give the iMac an ADC port!

Yes Bluetooth for the future, anything to cut down on wires. As David Pogue MWNY "electrical power cord is the only one that can't go wireless":)

That's not entirely correct. Its not efficient or safe to do that yet, but using microwaves you can beam energy across the room, or across the planet. We've got a lab at work that demonstrates the concept. The only problem is you don't really want to get in the beam, your insides wouldn't feel to good afterward. ;)

I saw the key to this question as "Which one would make the biggest overall difference if everyone had it." Sure you can get a 2-button mouse, but you can also get every other thing on this list. The trick is which do you want every OTHER mac user to also have?
I don't care whether everyone else has a multibutton mouse, but I do care if they all have superdrives or bluetooth. the first means it would become a more standard medium for archiving, sending files, all that jazz. Bluetooth on every box means that more companies would jump in making bluetooth mice, headsets, keyboards, PowerMates(!), bluetooth-enabled iPods (iPod in your pocket, streaming to your bluetooth earbud *and* your friend's), and all that jazz.
Airport would also be cool if everyone had it.
Here's hoping for slotloading superdrives and onboard bluetooth on Super Tuesday the Fifth.

I wish I could get this mouse:

You can view more info on it by clicking on the iMac Products link at GreenWorld (http://www.greenworld.net)
Anybody know where to purchase one? I really like the buttonless mice and this one has two buttonless buttons and a scroll wheel to boot. But I can't seem to figure out where to buy one... :(

Double power/Half price.
OK, that won't be possible by now.
So:
1) Front connectors FW/USB
2) Bluetooth in motheboard
3) Airport in motherboard.
In the soft side:
iWord/iCalc/iShow/iBase:
this free apps will render any M$Office doc but only have the basic editing functions. The Pro version ($29.90... a la QT) will edit/render for full compatibility.
As for one-wire remember (any old Mac user?) that the NeXT cubic machine has the monitor connected with only one cable that tnasported all the signals: the keyboard, mouse, earphones, mike... conected direcly to the monitor... a little as in the AV CRTs of some years ago.
I do declare that I do not want a microwave transmiter to supply power... I stay with the cord.

I polled some friends who would be true consumers and here are their responses.
1. Free beer.
or
2. Anna Kournikova
or
3. A blowup doll of Anna Kournikova and cheap beer.
;)
Seriously though I can't believe no one even mentioned it...faster technology(ie cpu's, bus's, etc.).

Am I the only one that thinks bluetooth is designed to fail? If another protocol that is already in or can be in all Macs for the past 2 or 3 years, and has 10 times the range and 10 times the throughput, why use Bluetooth? Is it that much cheaper than Apple's current wireless offerings? Can't Apple release cheaper single purpose AirPort functionality for the iPod, speakers, keyboards, mice, and whatever else they have up their sleves?
Bluetooth doesn't have the bandwidth to do anything but sync PDA's, cell phones, keyboards, mice, or anything else that can function on low bandwidth. This isn't a standard that can power future Apple digital hub products, like a set of speakers for your living room or a new wireless iPod or a "general purpose house robot" that's been promised since the 60's (?).
Apple should give us devices that can sync with the existing Mac based wireless network. If you already have a Mac with an AirPort card and perhaps even a basestation, wouldn't Apple be smarter to sell their wireless devices, whatever they may be, to a large group of already wireless Mac users?
I can't say I'm all that impressed with Bluetooth and would appreciate it if someone would tell me what the big deal is about?!
And I don't own an AirPort card or anything based on 802.11 so don't start thinkin' I'm strapped for cash and bias. I think it would be nice to have a wireless keyboard and mouse but not if it's at the expense of Apple's R&D time when they could make a set using AirPort and then use the spare time to make something cool. Like that robot :D

Sorry for the double post ;)
This isn't something for ALL new Macs but it could be something for all the Power Macs and the great number of "power" users an option :D
Bringing back the CRT's would be nice. Yeah, LCD's are coming down in price but when you have the space for two big 'ol 19" CRT's you can save alot of cash opting for them. The current cheapest LCD from Apple is $600 to $1,000. That's either $1,200 or $2,000 for dual displays. That simply isn't reasonable, I look beyond the price when purchasing a computer as I'm a Mac user but paying over $3,500 on just the displays and the machine is way over the budget of most everyone I've ever come in contact with. Provided you purchase alot of RAM with the low end Power Mac.
You have to admin the 17" CRT Apple made and the current eMac is awesome! If they started releasing 19's I'd go for 'em.

Yes, we are all waiting for the PPC 970, DDR, & G5! Sorry but I don't won't to see the return the the CRT. :)

All of those, but mainly bluetooth and a multi-buttoned mouse (that is wireless). That would be nice ;)

I would definitely vote for the rebirth of the power switch on the keyboard.
