Our sister-site TouchArcade notes that Chillingo's excellent physics puzzler Feed Me Oil is free today for both the iPhone and iPad. It's normally $0.99 for iPhone and $1.99 for iPad. Feed Me Oil is something of a mix between World of Goo and Where's My Water?.

Every level features two things: A spigot where oil shoots from, and an area (usually designed as a mouth of a strange creature) where you've got to get the oil to. Completing each level involves getting the oil from the spigot to the goal area utilizing widgets you can drag into the game area. For instance, oil flows off simple platforms, it can be curved by magnets, and even blown in a different direction by fans.

Feed Me Oil was shockingly popular when it first hit last summer, so there's a decent chance you already have it. If this is the first you've heard of it though, make sure you don't miss this freebie.
Feed Me Oil is available free for today for iPhone and as an HD version for iPad. [Direct Link: iPhone/iPad]

The physics are a little "off" sometimes. You can set the level up, hit go and it'll do one thing, hit stop and then go again, and it'll do something different. It's a real pain when you're so close to beating a level, you just have to keep stopping and starting again and eventually it'll act the different way in your favor.

Still a fun game, though.

Is the game supposed to be a comment or parody of sorts on our obsession with oil? :)

And off I am, to the itunes store, as with all those people who are unable to add funds to their accounts or are just plain cheapskates(I am unable to add funds as I'm too young for a credit card, I live in an area with no itunes cards, and my parents won't let me use theirs. But, I'm trying to get a card from the UK)

Could be... I also wouldn't be surprised if it was backed by BP/Deepwater Horizon/Halliburton to subliminally convince us that some organisms in the gulf love eating oil, and this promotion is a response to the recent findings of tons of mutated shrimp and fish attributed to the oil spill :p

I still downloaded it! It's free ffs!! :-D

Could be... I thought it was a bit weird that one of the background tunes they used seems to be a lullaby version of "The Internationale".

One of the reasons why I don't buy that many games anymore is because there are just so much that I haven't finished. I haven't finished:

- Infinity Blade 1 (I thought I have, but apparently there's more)
- Where's My Water
- World of Goo
- Cargo Bot
- and so many more

I also have lots of PS3 and Wii games that I haven't finished (Oh God Zelda from 2009)... I need to take a "Game Holiday" :)

There are lots of games I've left unfinished, mainly for three reasons (Zelda was one of them).

1. Later stages of the game became boring or repetitive
2. The game became impossibly hard to complete
3. Not fun

The exception has been Diablo and Diablo II.... we'll see about Diablo III but it looks good so far

Virtual Credit Cards, my friend. Entropay is reliable and fairly cheap.

What's with the Christian-themed music in the game?

EDIT: With the downvotes, I feel the need to explain myself: While playing the game, I noticed "Away in a Manger" playing. I understand the software development company may be Christian ("Holywater Games"), but not everyone playing the game is Christian. Yes, I can mute the music, but if I develop a game with Muslim holy songs, would you be offended? What about Buddhist prayer songs? A game is not the proper forum for your religious views.

I'm rather the same way. I get bored or frustrated with a game and move on to something else for a while. So I like you don't buy as much stuff at the moment but if something that seems interesting goes free I'll grab it cause it's not costing me anything to consider giving it a go. The only time that has failed me was Lost Winds. Almost every 'this is an awesome game' review I have seen is for the console version and perhaps it is, but the iOS controls were too frustrating for me to bother with it at the moment. So I deleted it from my stuff and went back to my other games I haven't finished yet

Try downloading again? My free purchase has persisted for several days. I don't think temporarily free = temporary license to play.

Fun app. Thanks for the heads up.

BTW, some of these posts are getting a little stale 'round here. It's getting to be like reading a newspaper.
