Hi guys, I've been having a strange problem with Mail in Lion lately. Every day I receive Favorite Searches emails from eBay - about 50 or 60 of them. They are formatted to have thumbnail images of each search result. Some of them display like this, which is proper:

http://65.181.130.26/good.jpg

While others display like this:

http://65.181.130.26/bad.jpg

Doesn't seem to be a pattern to it, either. One email won't show up right, but the very next one in the list will be fine. Then the next one will be bad, etc. I've made sure the "display external images" option is selected.

Any other ideas? Thanks!!

The e-mails without images are being sent without images. Mail cannot make an image appear when there are no images to display.

Well, that's what I thought, too. So I looked at the emails in Gmail in Safari, and all the emails/images show up perfectly fine. So I don't think it's anything wrong on eBay's end. It's something that's happening in Mail when it renders the emails.

The text-only messages are displaying "perfectly fine." The symptom of a problem with linked graphics in HTML mail are placeholders where the graphics should be. It is not a perfectly formatted message in a monospaced font. You are comparing different messages.

Well, when I use Gmail's web-based access in Safari, it loads every one of these emails perfectly - images and all. Why is Mail displaying half of that same bunch of emails improperly?

In other words, if Gmail's web-based platform loads the emails correctly with full images, that means the problem isn't with the emails' formatting, right?

Clever and insightful.
This is a serious issue not to be dealt with in such a flippant way.
