This gastronomic delight (http://www.pearsonscandy.com/nutroll.cfm) turned up this week in a vending machine at the company where I work.
Seems the name alone would be enough reason not to eat it. Eww!
Even this bit of assurance from the manufacturer's Web site fails to assure:
Next, the freshly formed Pearson’s Salted Nut Rolls are individually packaged in a specially designed wrapper sealed to form an excellent oxygen and moisture barrier. As a rule, our product is shipped directly from Pearson’s to our customers within days of production.
