Macbook HD 2 Partitions ???

Hi

When looking in to system specs, About this Mac > more info > Serial - ATA.

I see there is a FUJITSU MHZ2160BH FFS G1 title giving specs underneath.

Also a Macintosh HD title giving specs underneath, what is the division here ?

Are these 2 partitions ? where system DATA is kept in the FUJITSU volume ?

and all personal DATA is stored in the Macintosh volume ?

How do i manually select which Volume i want my personal DATA to be kept in ?


Sorry I'm new to internal components.

Mac OS X normally only uses ONE partition to store personal data and the data it needs to run the OSm unless otherwise configured.
What you see is the tree showing the controller > actual storage device (HDD or SSD) > actual volumes (in normal cases ONE partition/volume).

If you really would have several partitions, for whatever reason, there would be a second entry like the "Macintosh HD" entry in above screenshot*.

To see the partitions, you can also use Disk Utility.

Btw, partitioning is not really necessary, as you can easily restore your personal data and settings, if you ever have to reinstall.

* The part in above screenshot where it says 209.7 MB is the partition table and not an actual volume/partition you have access to via Mac OS X and Finder.
