Hi all,

I'm having problems with Mail on my Mac.

I was using a Google IMAP account however I am now going to be using an Exchange account instead.

When I disable my old IMAP account all of my old mail disappears. When I enable it again the mails re-appear but I can't send/receive mail under this account any more and prompts for a password every time I try to send/receive.

Is it possible to disable the account on my Mac and store all of the mails locally?

What you can do is create Mailboxes(folders) on your Mac and and move the messages from the old imap server to there.

In the Mail menus, it's Mailboxes -> New Mailbox... in the window that pops up, select the Location as "On My Mac".

Once you have all the messages copies over, you can disable the old mail account.
