I want to be able to record my moniter-output in software form. What is a good (free) application to do this? What would be really neat if it'd work with the COMMAND+OPTION+8 command (may be tiger only, I don't know off the top of my head) too.

Well...

I've never used it and can't say that I know anything about it, but VersionTracker lists a program called ScreenRecord 1.6.1 that seems to do what you want.

While it's not free, I think that $20 might be within your budget. 🙂

Crap, I can hook my moniter up to a TV card on my homemad TiVo for cheeper... thanks though!
