In honor of This Thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1253735), I decided we should make one for iOS 6. , but what are the little things?
UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who discovered unknown or un advertised features. I have tried to compile the information into this one post. If there is anything that you think has been left out of this or any incorrect information please PM me.

Maps/Navigation
* Road names that you're turning onto are in blue, street names you can turn onto are in green.
* The road you are on is under your position in blue.
* Whenever you approach a turn it goes from 3D view to overhead view to give you a clear view of the turn then back again after the turn is completed.
* Direction road signs fly up and away and another flies in from underneath to take it's place when completing a step.
* You can't have hybrid (satellite + road names) or satellite map tiles while navigating (turn by turn).
* Siri continues to give directions while on the phone even if using a headset (she transfers to the headset). Obviously she gives directions if music/podcasts/audio is playing (volume is lowered slightly and she is REALLY loud)
* Being able to say, "take me home" and have her start to navigate to your home address is beautiful. You really don't need to touch it at all.
Thank you QuarterSwede (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=15017676&postcount=290)

Features Slide
Below is the slide of some of the 200 features from the iOS 6 Keynote.
http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=342650&d=1339445909

Reminders
Manual reorder of reminders
Manual location entry for reminders

Share Buttons
Share buttons now use a grid like way to select where you want to share (iMessage, email, twitter, facebook, etc) instead of popping up as a list.
EX: http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=342749&d=1339466751

iMessage
In iMessage you can set the caller ID for replying and for starting a new conversation (they can be different).
New option allows you to only alert you for iMessages from people in contacts (meaning a text/iMessage from an unknown number won't notify you)

Alerts
Can now receive Amber alerts.
Also must receive Government Emergency Alerts.

Music App
Music app has been changed to look more like the iPad Music app
Podcasts can be shared via email.

Mail App
Per Account Signatures
No longer shows you the progress of mail sending and it now immediately makes the sent whoosh sound even though it's still sending

Contacts
Search all fields in Contacts

App Store
App Download Process Shows up in Store with option to Open when complete.
Installed Apps also have the "open" button instead of "installed"
Downloading an app no longer pushes you back to the home screen.
An app that has been updated will get a blue ribbon overlaid in the corner that says "New" (similar to a newsstand item).
App Store has new look.
If downloading a free app there is no longer a need to enter a password.
In some places you can quickly swipe through apps in the app store on iPad. Works with related apps, more apps by the developer and apps on the featured page. Click for Example (http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=342831&d=1339506104)

Dictionary
Personal dictionary in iCloud (presumably syncs with Mountain Lion)

Settings
Bluetooth can be toggled on/off from settings without having to go into general.
New icon.
3 new Wallpapers
Use as Wallpaper share option in Photos

Clock App
Is on iPad (Previously in iOS 5 there was no native clock app on the iPad.)
On iPad clock app temperature shows up along with time.
CLICK HERE TO VIEW (http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=342779&d=1339481779)

Siri
Location commands work worldwide.

Other
Alarm can now be set with a song.
EX:http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=342730&d=1339462481

Tons of new Emoji's Click to view! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ivan-/sets/72157630109647022/) Thank you Vitruviux.

More language support:
- Autocorrection for every keyboard
- French, German and Spanish dictionaries

I think this thread should be cleared of attempts to be witty in the wake of Devs with the beta. Specifically the person who said new maps app. I'd also like to remind you that this thread (As with the other "_____ - All the Little Things" threads) is for Undocumented features. Things that Apple doesn't talk about.

It'll have Siri but only on phones who can get Siri (4s). But turn by turn will just use the voice over service for everyone.

There is also an error in the Toronto map, it shows the island airport as begin connected to the main land which it obviously isn't as it's an island. So I am sure that there are minor errors like that all around the world.

Other then those small errors I really like how the new maps app looks and behaves!

Well... how do the street names and business names compare to Google Maps. Plus are the 3D buildings available for everywhere or just select cities>Maps is definitely still in beta and the 3D doesn't appear to work in any major city I've tried - including NYC and London.

Only main roads and city names appear at first and as you zoom in the roads start to show. I prefer the Google way of doing this but I guess it will grow on me. I hope that Google will release a map app too.

A guy/girl on Reddit named herpderp020 posted this about some small (And really good things in iOS 6).

I figured it would be nice to make a thread to share some hidden features or features that weren't really talked about iOS 6 Beta at WWDC. Some things I noticed:

Downloading an app no longer pushes you back to the home screen.
An app that has been updated will get a blue ribbon overlaid in the corner that says "New" (similar to a newsstand app).
In the app store if an app is already installed the button will say "Open" instead of "Installed" and pressing it will open the app on your phone.
In iMessage you can set the caller ID for replying and for starting a new conversation (they can be different).
Music app has been changed to look more like the iPad Music app.
iTunes/App Store apps have been changed.
The status bar changes blue/light gray now if the status bar of an app is blue/black respectively.
iPad gets a really nice default clock app.
You can choose to show an iMessage alert from everyone or just numbers/emails you have in your Contacts.app
Bluetooth on/off toggle now directly at the top of the Settings.app next to Wifi toggle
Edit:

Photos.app now uses a Photo Stream tab to access your photo stream instead of doing it as an album.
Share buttons now use a grid like way to select where you want to share (iMessage, email, twitter, facebook, etc) instead of popping up as a list.
In the iPad Clock app the temperature of a city shows up in the World Clocks view in addition to the time in that city.

Thanks for posting this. I've bolded the ones I am most pleased to see. So glad the really annoying behaviour of returning to home screen when you download an app is gone! Also happy to see the share list has been updated as it was starting to look ugly with all the additions over the years.

When you download a new app, it has a little NEW badge next to it, just like how newsstand does.

To swipe between different lists in Reminders, you have to swipe the name of the list at the top, no more dots to represent pages (like springboard) anymore. Also the in-app "settings" type view is quite different, with a calendar at the bottom and the list of lists in the center.

Anyone notice how many of the new map features (point to point directions) were using Siri? Wonder if this means that the Iphone 4 will get Siri or if it means that none of the new driving directions and map features will be available in IOS6 for the Iphone 4.

It's just Siri's voice.. Not the entire feature silly! ;)

Well... how do the street names and business names compare to Google Maps.

Doesn't look nearly as good as Google Maps. They spent a lot of time figuring out how to get the labels just right, what font size to use, and how to add emphasis with a border around the letters, and how to place the label to not obstruct important stuff. They are all very subtle techniques, but when you really compare how Google does it to other mapping services, (including the new iOS maps), Google labels are much, much better. Hopefully Apple will improve over time, but I will miss the clarity of Google maps, street view, and integrated walking/biking directions. Really hope they release an iOS app, but I doubt they will. Will probably just be an app that is a front end for the web version of google maps. :(

well i guess you can do those already, i guess i meant to say if you can subscribe to podcasts directly through the itunes app, which then would notify you if there were new episodes to download or even just choose to stream. rather than having to search for a specific podcast and look up the episodes manually.

guess not, thats insane.

basically like an app like stitcher, where you can refresh all of your podcasts in your "favorites" all at once. seems like that wouldn't be hard to do inside the native itunes app.

hmm..thats a bummer.

From the list view, it still does and always has. I've always found it annoying as I've never used the feature in 4 years, but it takes up screen real-estate on a 3.5" display.

Excellent screen captures, everyone. Thanks. A couple of questions:

1. Are we finally able to move contacts into groups?

2. For those who use iTunes Match, is the sorting issue finally fixed? For those, like me, who organize their albums chronologically, it wouldn't sort album titles that began with the word "the" or "a". So, take The Beatles. Most of their albums would sort perfectly, but then albums like "A Hard Days Night" or "The Beatles" (the White Album) would sort alphabetically. It's been a massive annoyance so it' be great if it were finally fixed.

Thanks!

It's on the way, now when you turn on iMessage on your phone, the next time you use it on your ipad/mac you get a popup saying "(555) 555-5555 was added on another device would you like to add it here" and then the phone number pops up as well. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any way to do it on the iPad without the phone being updated but I would guess that's to stop people from spoofing the phone number.

Create a work account, not tied to any credit card. I don't think most people have any issue with having to have an account to install an app and to make some sort of special case exception would just create confusion for a lot of new customers.

In the past when an app wanted access to your photos it had to get permission to have your location. This was because your photos contain location data.

Now, in Settings>Privacy there is a Photos sub-setting, meaning that apps accessing your photos won't have to access your "location data" (which is confusing), they only request access to your photos. This works in currently installed apps, IE: open Camera+ (or any photo editing app) and try to import a photo.

EDIT: Note that apps that take photos (like Camera+) will still need your location access turned on so that they can geotag any photos you take in that app.

When you install an app from the App Store it doesn't exit store anymore. It shows a little download bar in the App Store. New apps also get a little "new" banner on the side.

It does but it is extremely subtle and only animates when it first appears.

EDIT: I guess I was wrong... tried it again and it just fades in. You, sir, are loosing the thumbs up I gave you! =: P

Also note that holding the home and lock screen button no longer brings up the "Slide to Shut Down" screen, it simply kills the phone.

Am I missing something? I thought holding down the home and power buttons always killed the device - it's only when holding down the power button that it brings up the slide to shut down slider. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It did, but (as I remember it) it would first bring up the "Slide to Power Off" screen before it would kill it. Now it skips that step.

Yes, I tried it with stocks too and it works. Also, I'm not sure if you could do this before but you can say stuff like 'Google apple store' and it will go into safari and google it for you.

With iTunes match on iPad, I believe that it now streams the song instead of downloading it whilst playing.

The animation on the 'pull to refresh' in mail is delightful. It's hard to describe without showing you, but the rounded arrow icon stretches like a globule of gel as you pull it, until it can't be pulled any more and the globule string snaps back to the parent globule and it refreshes your email.

Interestingly, custom vibration patterns are actually already available in iOS 5; you just have to enable them as an Accessibility feature.

Personally I think the new phone and music apps in those screenshots looks atrocious and out of place.

Agreed!

Plus, buttom tabs blend in with the music list, which makes quick glancing harder.

Can anyone confirm if they at least fixed this bug:

Select a "Songs" tab, pull down the list and do a search for any artist for example "Queen", then tap on "All Songs", OK now tap on the "Songs" tab again. When it's switching back you'll get a weird black bar animation at the top.

The UI inconsistency is really bugging me. You've got some really slick things like the new Music app, and you've got some really dated looking stuff like [see the 'choose wallpaper' ui at the top of this page], and then you've got everything in between.

Baffling how they can have so much consistency and elegance on the hardware side but the software is all over the place. From the screenshots I've seen nothing looks consistent. Yuck.

One other annoying thing is when you look at a single app then go back to the main store app listings the store takes you right to the top of the listings again. So if you were 4 pages into the apps you'd have to browse from the top all over again.

Does anyone know if this has been fixed? For example, go 3 pages into the top free apps and click an app to read its description. Then exit out of that description and see if you stay where that app was in the store listings or if the store takes you all the way to the beginning again. Also try this in the Genius listings too if you could be so kind.

Thanks

Siri dictates more now, (ie. she reads definitions aloud).

Has anyone figured out what that snippet on the slide of the keynote that said "Made for iPhone hearing aids" means?

I think they said at the keynote (don't know where else I'd have gotten this) but they will be partnering with (eh?) someone to make exclusive "made for iPhone" hearing aids... Or something to that extent.

Think "World of Goo" if you've ever played the game.

Did you check both the regular browsing via top fee apps AND the Genius browsing listings? Also try it a few times because I remember sometimes it would stay nicely but mostly it wouldn't play nice.

EDIT: Saw your post about Genius. Thanks for checking btw.

p.s. As an additional feature that I don't think anyone has thought of is I'd actually like to be able to copy and paste app descriptions. I know most people probably wouldn't have a use for it but it can be handy when sending app info to friends or you need to translate sone descriptions in other languages.

Also, if you are in the middle of a sentence and decide to start dictatating with Siri, it used to add a period to the previous word ending that sentence... I'm thrilled to say it no longer does that and you may continue where you left off. This was a big pet peeve of mine.

Don't know if anyone has noticed this but iOS 6 now has different menu bars (no not what your thinking, keep reading).

Here is "SchoolBook" (an iOS app for handling school schedules). You can pick the theme as seen in the attached images. Usually you change the theme and the Navigation bar (big bar with settings button at the top) would change (along with some other small differences). What's new here is the menu bar (small bar at the top displaying time and some other things) changes along with it. From what I recall in iOS 5 and below the menu bar wouldn't change.
