View Full Version : Is it just me or does the new phone dialpad look super tacky?

It's almost as if Google or Skype or some other cheap tasteless third-party company contributed to the redesign. Ugh, I wanna vomit.

No, thank you. I'd rather vomit than NOT use the new and shiny iOS 6. :D

I think its nice....

Would be great if they incorporated searching for contacts using the keypad though.

It's exactly the same... with a different color scheme and rounded "buttons".

If they didn't update it, then people would be complaining it was the same old design - they can't win.

Dude, the OS has had the same design for 5+ years.

Forgive the masses if they would like to see something new.

Looks good to me. Of course, it will look slightly different on the larger iPhone 5 screen.

I love the look of the new weather app on the iPhone. It looks very modern looking.

That's iOS 4. iOS 5 doesn't have an iPod app (though I wish it did).

Is this what it's come to? Complaining over how the Dialpad looks? Do people even use it that much? Damn! I hate this phone every time I dial a new number I just want to kill someone.

i'm glad that they've finally changed it. the old design was a pain to use at times for me. this looks like it will be easier for me to see and use when needed, not that it ever gets much use as it is.

NO.

I can tell you (as I'm half blind/legally blind in the other eye) that the original keypad was perfectly fine. This however is awful. If you can't see very well, everything blends in. Especially since the type is much thinner and the letters are greyish against white.

Yea, I don't like the new design. Maybe it looks good on a white iPhone, but definitely not for black. It lost its sleekness.

And to whoever posted about complaining over little things like this..

This design pretty much makes two polar sides... previously it was pretty dark and now it's pretty bright. People who like one way are gonna like it with not too many in the middle. Personally, I think it looks pretty good with the blue theme they've gone with.

Can someone post a picture of the phone app when you start dialing a number??? Also, did they change the dial pad that pops open when you edit a contacts phone number???

They should make the buttons more lifelike like these, but square not circular:

Why does the '1' label look a little off? Or is it just because there isn't a label below it?

I'm totally with you on this. People argue that you'd have to "relearn" the OS if they changed it to something else. Wow, are they that lazy or ignorant that they couldn't figure out something new?

When dialing:

When editing contact phone numbers, it's the same dialpad as in iOS 5.

The masses don't want something "new".

And why would you expect Apple to blow up its multi-billion dollar product to appease a select few.

What makes it work is consistency.

See? This is the PERFECT example... you can't please everybody! No matter what Apple would've announced yesterday, and no matter how boring or futuristic their next iOS will look, SOMEBODY will be complaining. My guess is they're putting all their money on the whole iOS ecosystem and don't want to alienate any users. I for one would rather get new and exciting apps with incredible customer support than have a new version of the OS and not be able to buy it because only a couple of phones have it (see release of ICS 4.0).

I don't think I have a problem with it. My gripe is that it doesn't seem to fit the rest of the OS. As other people have complained, it looks like several developers disagreed and all wanted different colour schemes. It fits the iPod app quite well, but everything else is how it was before, and that just makes it seem amateurish.

I am not find of the dial pad. It's the first and only thing I have found that I think looks bad. Something is off with the color scheme. It needs black numbers and or a darker header up top where the dialed numbers show up. It just looks like they put the wrong skin on or something. Other than that I'm happy thus far.

Yeah it doesn't look amazing, but it could be worse. iOS still looks better than some of those horrible Android skins

The reflections on buttons that are a trademark of Apple's user interface are gone. The Call button and the LCD don't have reflections. This is ugly, but more importantly it is inconsistent. All other buttons have reflections. It is as if this screen and this screen alone was designed by an Android designer.

If you have set a passcode lock then take a look at the screen where you enter the passcode. The number buttons look so polished and so very apple like. Now compare the dialpad to the lock screen. It looks so very unpolished.

Now that Steve Jobs is gone I think Apple will slowly deteriorate. This is so sad.
