Hello hello. Here comes another one of these mac quesitons. Question is, how well does the new G5's do with 3D programs such as Lightwave, and all the others? Will it handle it or should I look into getting a pc(oh no) for that? I want to stick with macs.

http://xlr8yourmac.com/ has heaps of stuff about Lightwave, etc in their graphics cards reviews, etc. You might also want to check out http://barefeats.com/

gundamvi, the new Power Mac G5s are super fast at any task that you throw their way. Just check out Apples website for some G5 benchmarks.

Here is a link to the lightwave benchmark on Apple's website

Remember that Apple's own benchmarks are usually a tad optimistic but nevertheless, dmw007 is right in that a G5 will handle pretty much anything you could possibly want from it with relative ease.

Seriously? Why would Apple ever play up their own benchmarks? ;)

just to warn you...in this forum you shouldn't say "MAC" in reference to a Mac computer. some people get annoyed. not me though :), just letting you know

Maya (http://www.aliaswavefront.com) is well known. I don't know about any others. :)

Maya also has a personal edition that's free to use (although you may not be able to use the things you produce).
