Powerbook: Possible to Close Lid Without Going to Sleep?

I don't have a Powerbook... yet... but when I do get one, will it be possible to close the lid without it going to sleep, so I can still use it with an external monitor/keyboard/mouse?

I don't think my iBook can do that but I wish it did.
