View Full Version : Cruise ship makes the switch!

Humphrey, a 42-year-old multimillionaire, is still president and CEO of Cidera. When the firm underwent a drastic downsizing recently, he moved his entire staff to Macs because it was too expensive keeping a fleet of Windows machines shipshape.

"We forced everyone to go to Macs for the desktops," he said. "The support load dropped to almost nothing and the only complaints were from people who couldn't play games on their machines any longer. So sorry, no games at work. We are so mean."

The company uses Unix behind the curtains. But on the boat, it's Macs only. Humphrey insists the regulation is not Mac zealotry.

"We avoid the Windows operating system since it is such a huge security risk," he explained. "We didn't want to have viruses blowing up systems that we depend on for navigation and monitoring engines and other systems. And since nothing seems to be able to stop all of these Windows viruses, the best way to win is to just stop using Windows."

Fantastic, now if we can just convince the major banks and retailers to do the same, the Mac will become ubiqutous in peoples minds.

Well, it is not a cruise ship, it is a yacht.

Actually, it is not a yacht, is it is decommissioned military cruiser.

But it is a few Macs getting some press in an interesting way!
