Nice.

Just beware that this makes no sense unless you remove the battery when your turning the machine off... Turn it off, and leave it off for at least 15 minutes. Then, flip it over to remove the battery; ...

Think this will work on a powerbook? I'd really like a blue apple.

I've seen this mod before. That's not a bad thing, though, considering this is a great mod.

My preferred variation of this mod is the one where the logo is covered by strips of multi coloured material to look like the old-school "anarchy rainbow" logo. I think it can be found on Apple Fritter.

I may get bored and try it someday.

Now that's a good idea.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about... Blue rocks!

Just finished on my 12" iBook. Very easy to do.

I put in what I thought was a blue color, but it turned out purple. eek. Gotta change that.

Anyway, it only took me 20 minutes to do (the screws were tough to get out).

Pics? Please?

And would this void your warranty?

Well, I'm sure if you broke or chipped something off it would void your warranty, but I did it with no problems at all.

It's kind of hard to get the true color...

The best such mod I ever saw was this one (http://homepage.mac.com/jimyounkin/PhotoAlbum6.html) where the person used six different colored gels to give his PowerBook the classic rainbow-colored Apple logo.

I'm gonna get green plastic and place it over the apple leaf, and get red plastic and put it over the apple. A real apple indeed.

He also put the grossest feet replacement on his pb that I have ever seen.

It depends greatly on which PB you have. Most PB displays are not field serviceable like the iBook and require very specialized tools and instruction for proper take apart and re-assembly.
And if you bend, scratch or strip anything in the process... bye bye warranty.
