I just got a new G5 20" 1.8 iMac, I love it!
Had a iMac dome/swivel loved that too,
now here's a strabge one ...
on my old one i got some DVD.CD problems.
It would not eject...so I did the regular, reboot etc.
that worked but a DVD ejected with a silver rubber like cloth washer
semi stuck to the disk, well I meant to call my dealer but forgot about as it didnt effect performance?
Now it just happened again on my new G5 ..
is it an "Alien" jumping from the guts of my iMac,
sure is weird!
I know this is not normal, anyone else had this happen?
Thank
Randy

Aliens is as good an explanation as I can think of.

That little washer sits on the spindle to keep it in place and reduce shock. I can't believe it came off. Does the drive still work?

If I were you I would change media. I think those disks are too sticker or soft.

Well I have had a million computers and have never seen that before. Do you store your discs in a hot area? Doubt that would be it though as the heat up in the drive. Hmmm. There is no way to put it back in but it sure is easy to buy another drive ofcourse. Call apple and demand a new drive. That would be easiest.

Same thing happened to my iMac G4. I wasn't sure what it was for but the drive worked just fine without it. I gave the computer to relatives and they haven't reported any problems.
