View Full Version : Will new mac laptops still boot in os9?

I am dying to know if the new tibook and ibook will boot into OS9. I am hoping that they do just so I can use virtual game station on them.

Well, it is not Jan 2003 yet so the answer is "Yes, provided you own a copy of OS 9"

As I've said before, when you buy a laptop now, you will get both OS 9 and OS X...so the answer is yes.

And yeah, its not 2003.;)

Probably, but the energy saving and system cooling features are deviating more and more from the final installment of OS 9 - since the OS ROM file isn't being updated, you can't take advantage of these features.

Expect the next major motherboard revisions of computers to completely break the systems bootablity - not talking speed bumps here.

Just watch how you word that... the PowerMacs and iMacs do NOT have OS9 standalone, only classic and I would say the new machines would be exactly the same... you have to buy or install a full blown version of 9
