Safari pages take too long to load

Guys

Web pages take up to ten seconds to load with Javascript on, should I delete and reinstall Safari? Will my bookmarks get deleted? iMac i3 with Safari 5.1.7

Have you tried resetting Safari? That usually fixes any issues I've ever had.

For the vast majority of sites, Java is unnecessary. Just turn it off.

I wish; pages with video windows do not load the video. I shall try a reset.
