I would like to control/interact with dialog windows on a Mac osx 10.6.8 that come up during a running application such as

check this box if x,y or z (how do I check the box using Terminal)

click [accepet] if a (how do i click buttons from Terminal)

enter text (how do i enter text into a field)

thanx in advance for patience with a newbie

AppleScript is probably the best way to do this, you can do all the stuff you mentioned via AppleScript and you can launch AppleScript scripts via the command line(assuming you are the same user that is logged into the GUI or have root privileges)
