Hello,

I recently downloaded some videos onto my MacBook Pro (running Lion) from an SD card. The videos would not play on my mac, but they played (with audio) on a PC, so I right clicked on the videos and encoded them so they would play. After that, they played, but there was no audio. I don't know anything about codecs, but I'm guessing I'm missing an audio one? If anyone could help me out it would be great! I also have the MediaInfo screenshot of one of the videos..

You are definitely missing your audio files!

m4v is a container which in this case contains an MPEG-4 video file but no audio files.

Where are the original SD files from: your video cam?

You say they play video & audio on your PC, but when do you "right click" on them...; in the PC? and then you encode them; with what?

In any event go here and download Perian on your MacBookPro and the original files should play in QuickTime:

Perian v1.2.3

If not, google Handbrake and download that wonderful program and transcode the original files using the Regular-Normal default encoding set, so that they will play with in QuickTime audio on your MBP.

Or, google VideoLan Mac and download this player which should play your original files.
