I tried installing Windows with bootcamp and gave up (long story).

I went into disk utility and removed the partition that bootcamp created.

The problem, however, is that when I restart my MBA, it goes to a black screen saying that there's no bootable drive. If I hold option, I can select OSX or Recovery drive. Selecting OSX brings me to my desktop and everything is fine.

I simply want to get rid of the need to hold option.

Any advice?

Have you opened the "Startup Disk" preference pane, and set your Mac OS X partition to be the startup system?
