What the heck is "Disk At Once"??

Im in Milan for the summer and bought some (what I thought were) CD-Rs to burn some iPhoto stuff to mail back to the family in the USA. I have a rev D 15" PB with superdrive. I put the blk CD in last night....and nothing. I cannot burn to this disk??? Finally I notice at the bottom of the CD box in very small text it states that "your computer must support disk at once to use these disks". What the heck did I buy? There was nothing on this box that indicated they were not anything but CDs... I goofed and the box is open now so I cannot take them back. What can I do with them?? I'm only trying to burn some folders so I do not need to burn multiple tracks....

Thanks...its funny I just found that same wikipedia listing, but I still can't figure out why I cannot burn to that CD with my PB!

Ahh.. poo. I just noticed that the demo was $30!

are you comfortable doing it in terminal with Cdrdao? (clink (http://cdrdao.sourceforge.net/))

Accd to their website, Toast (http://www.roxio.co.uk/products/toast5/product_comparison.jhtml) does it for sure.

Oh nevermind... I just noticed I bought 800MB "high capacity" CDs... they are mot compatibel with OSX (I think). I think there are some 3rd party programs that will allow me to burn them up to regular capacity....

I've only heard of DAO in relation to burning audio CDs. That's so when you burn like a concert, you won't hear a 'tick' in between each track.

iTunes and Toast support this but as far as I was aware, this was a software issue, not a hardware one.

Basicilly instead of writing the files to the CD as it goes, it writes the index, and the size of each file that will be on the disc, then burns the data onto the disc. It's good for Audio CDs, and some Hybrid CDs.

I know Toast has this but I've never used it before/or as of yet.
