Does anyone have any comparison benchmarks with FileVault 2 before/after?
Does the MBA use hardware encrypt/decrypt?

Filevault is software level encryption.
I'm also interested in this topic, per http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1401117

Here (http://www.anandtech.com/show/4485/back-to-the-mac-os-x-107-lion-review/18) is a test from Anandtech showing very little performance hit from FV2.
I use it on my 2012 13" MBA and do not notice an speed/performance drop at all.

Filevault is software level encryption. The reason I ask is that most flash drive controllers include encryption hardware.

I'm sorry I can't lay my hands on the link right now, but when FV2 came out I recall reading it does not use/support hardware encryption. It is all done in the OS software.
