I just did a clean install of Lion after backing up my drive using Time Machine. I was having a few problems with sound deactivated and the lid not sleeping when closing it, so I decided to just completely reinstall Lion. Now that I've done that, how do I go about bringing certain files back, namely e-mails?

When I click on Time Machine and click "Browse Other Backup Disks," all of my favorites on the left are grayed out, including my Home folder. I'm reading that that's where my e-mails are. Is there any way to access my Home folder if it's grayed out?

I'd rather not do a complete restore, but instead restore only certain things, and reinstall all of my applications manually, just to keep things as clean as possible. Thanks.

Start the Migration Assistant from the /Applications/Utilities folder and point it to your Time Machine backup to restore your data.
