Yeah I did a thread about why they didn't seem to have any refurbs and this answers it  Well, see how long this will last on Apples site.

And everyone here is a student...
If anything, it will put pressure on people trying to sell their minis here so they are a bit more in line with reality and thats good for all of us.

doesn't seem like that good of a deal... makes me wonder what the markup is on those things anyway...? did apple reduce margins to try to lure people to the mac brand? hoping they'd buy more expensive machines later?

This deal sucks, imo. Unless I am not reading this correctly, there is no bluetooth and airport installed (since it is the older model). So at $50 off, you don't get bluetooth and airport. Definately not worth it.

And you're completely entitled to that opinion. Keep in mind though, that not everyone buying a mac wants or needs bluetooth. With the idea that you're bringing your own mouse and keyboard, I'd bet that 90% (probably more) are bringing non-bluetooth devices. Bluetooth is really a luxury...not a necessity.
Furthermore, the mini is (or most closely resembles, I guess) a desktop computer, so the need for the airport card certainly isn't as great as wireless on a laptop would be.
Me, I'd probably spend the extra $50 to get these things, but certainly not everyone wants or needs them. To others, however, that extra $50 might buy the keyboard or mouse they need, pay for the internet for a month or two, the electricity to run the computer, etc.
EDIT: I have a feeling that I'm unfairly picking on you...I'm sorry if it feels that way to you, too. No harm meant! (:

I don't take it as you are picking on me- no worries. I agree with you. I think that $50 is not enough of a difference between a refurb mini and a new mini which also includes bluetooth and airport...... AND more ram!

You nailed it on the head. The new 1.25GHz Mac minis don't come with BT and AP either, it's still BTO on them. Only the 1.42GHz models now come standard with BT and AP.
So really, it's that you save $50 and only lose 256MB of RAM.
