Thanks in advance

I don't know how to fix your problem, but in Word I just tried a right click and its working fine. Word version is 14.2.3 , perhaps you simply need to update office.

Can you change your trackpad settings to another right-click method in System Preferences? Not a fix mind you, just curious.

Move or delete your microsoft user data folder from documents. (make sure your email is backed up somewhere if you use outlook).

I followed you advice, unfortunately it doesn't solve the issue :(

Ok, got to be some sort of borked file.

Try creating a new user on your mac then test office

Are you using bettertouchtool? I was having the same issue with Chrome when Lion first came out. It might be occurring with ML as well.

I uninstalled it, and I've got the same issue ! I've got a Razer Death Adder driver, could it create an issue ?

It seems to be a problem with the latest update patch of Office.

Seems like I just solved it.
For me, it was the Antidote plugin in contextual menu.
It can be something else that fails in contextual menus.
Go to Mac HD/library/Contextual Menu Items and clean up!

Hope that helps.

My problem was solved by removing the Antidote plugin as described: thanks!

This solution just helped me too after a very frustrating day with Word and Excel crashing each time I attempted to format anything. However, will the solution affect Antidote in any way?

Thanks again!

The point is : what are doing all those software programmers down there in Microsoft??? No one has the slightest idea of what to do to solve such unbelievable bugs.......

This issue can be caused by any pluggin to the Finder. When it happens, click the "more information" --- there is a lot of developer debugging information, but in there, within the first 100 lines, there is a statement that lists the Offending code... that is the pluggin causing your issues.

From there, you would have to go about removing the plist in the /Library/LaunchAgents directory ... reboot... good to go

The clean up of the folder HD/library/Contextual Menu Items/ helped!
In my folder it was only one file named "fritz...plugin", nothing with "Antidote".

Thanks alot! Worked for me too!

Still don't know where the problem came from... seems it only happend on my new MacBook Pro - had no issues on the Air with the same config and all items in the Context Menu folder are older than 2011....

I also had the fritzbox plugin, not the antidote.

However, it works now again! Thanks alot!:):):)

just wanted to add that I too suffer from this error. The mentioned folder is empty.

Any ideas?

this solved it for me
I had a different plugin in the Contextual Menu Items folder - I deleted it and Excel no longer crashes after right-hand clicks. Thank you :)
