Lurker finally coming out...
I'm 95% sure I want to sell my 2 month old PB. I bought the stock model from Amazon.com on June 8th. I only use my PB to surf the web. That's it. So now that the new iBooks are out I think I want one of those instead. I'd like the longer battery life and the heavier casing.
I still have the box and everything that came with in, including the adaptors, etc.
Is $1350 unreasonable? I'd prefer to just sell it rather than trade. I have feedback on eBay that you can view for reference. 250 positive feedback, no negatives or neutrals.
Thanks.
EDITED TO ADD:
This PB is in perfect condition. No dead pixels, no sratches or dents, 3.5 hour battery life. In fact, it's never left the house. :)

You can buy the exact same powerbook direct from Apple as a refurb, with a full warranty for $1299. I think you should be looking to sell for like $1200 at the most.. Just my opinion.

Yeah, you're probably better off doing ebay. Most people there don't know of the refurb store.

refurb.....that's the whole thing. This he bought new, Don't ever trust refurbed products, they just exchange a few parts.

A lot of people would trust a refurb more than simply a used product, simply because Apple can be held accountable for anything that isn't to their satisfaction about the computer.

I agree.. Of course it is considered as "used" however it has been rebuilt to "like new" condition.
That being said, Apple will stand behind it as they would a new $1500 PowerBook.
eBay is the place to go to sell.. Some of those people are suckers :)

As someone who just sold a PB on Ebay, I agree that you can get some nice high bids there, though I think mine went for its worth rather than higher. On the other hand, almost 10% of the money goes to Ebay, PayPal, and shipping fees.

Thanks for the input everyone.
I listed it on eBay. No bidding, just a buy it now price of $1350 (but accepting offers). 4 offers so far, although I'm being low-balled a bit. The highest was $1100.
That being said, I know it's going to end up costing me $90 in fees if it sells on eBay. $6 listing fee, $34 fee when it sells, $50 PayPal fee. So I'm willing to let it go for $1250 if someone here wants it. I'll just end the listing. Of course, then I'd want a check and I'd wait for it to clear so that I could avoid the PayPal fees.
If it doesn't go in a week I'll just keep it. It's a really nice comuter. I was just lusting after the ibook and maybe I'm being silly, becasue this computer is a bit better. I'm just a sucker for the white case.

Also, I would consider keeping the PB instead, unless you've tried the iBook at a store. The iBook keyboard isn't nearly as nice, and the screen isn't as bright (even though its supposed to be the same exact screen.)
The iBook has the advantage of longer battery life of course, but the PB is such a beautiful machine...

Wow. I know the iBook is nice-looking and meets the average user's needs as well as the PB, but your statement really surprised me.

I've decided to keep my PowerBook. I went to my local Apple store today to play with the iBooks. While I still love the white case, I did not really like the feel of the keyboard. And the screen was a bit more dim than the screen of my PB. I decided I'll just wait for a Rev B Mactel iBook. This PB will last me nicely until then.
AND, while I was at the Apple store, I was browsing the refurb table and scored an extra battery for my PB for $60. It even has a one year warranty and everything. That totally solved the battery life issue. I charged it up when I got home and iBatt scored it an A-, which is what my original battery is scored too.
Thanks for all the input. I love how friendly the mac communities are.

How can you be certain about the screen? I don't think specs on the new iBook have been released have they?

Well, it seemed dimmer to me today. I was playing with a new iBook at the Apple store. I put it right next to a 12" PB and it was dimmer, even with the brightness up all the way.

It was a refresh table actually. I live in the SF Bay Area and am lucky to have 4 Apple stores within 45 minutes of my house. I think these tables were just a limited time thing because this was the first time I saw them and I go to the Apple store a lot! I went to two of my local ones and they both had tables set up. I got an Apple mouse for $10 and the battery for $60. They had a lot of cool stuff at the first store I went to (which is where I made my purchases). Speaker sets, mice, keyboards, iPod cases, AP extreme cards, batteries, iPod earbuds (the ones with the case), etc. They even had computers. They had a dual 2.0, several PBs in varying sizes and a few Mac Minis. I wish I had had a ton of money to spend. It was all very tempting. :)

Oh, you're from the Bay Area, too. It was the Pleasanton store that had the best stuff. The Emeryville store had a table set up as well, but it was mostly iPod stuff. They did have a list of refreshed computers available, though. They had a lot of previous generation iBooks and Mac Minis for sale.

Man... thanks for the info, too bad those are both a bit out of the way. I'm in the South Bay, 408 area code. Ah well, the car dealership I like to go to is in Pleasanton, maybe I'll find a way to go to that store sometime. I would love to pick up a cheaper Apple BT keyboard and mouse and a spare battery for my PB.
