Howdy all; I have a 2 month old Dell Inspiron 9300, that I just don't think is right for me. I would like to get your opinions on what I could get for it (Money or trade wise). Here are the Specs of the Machine:
1.6GHZ Pentium M
Centrino Chipset
512MB RAM
80GB 5400 RPM HDD
Dual Layer DVD-R
Intel PRO/Wireless 54mb WLAN card (in the mini pci slot)
Radeon X300 video w/128mb VRAM (dedicated)
17" WUXGA Widescreen Display with TruLife (1920x1200 res!)
Windows Media Center 2005
Microsoft Office 2003 Standard
Norton Internet Security 2005
Plenty of Games too. Rome, Total War, Battlefield 2, Empire Earth II, to just name a few.
What I was hoping for was a *lesser* notebook (Small PC, 12" PB or iBook) and perhaps some cash.
Oh, and before CanadaRAM gets me, here 'go:
Location: Buffalo NY
Payment: Money Orders and Paypal
References: eBay Username: dnr77
Ship to: Anywhere so long as they realize the consequences of international shipping, as well as the extra costs involved. :)
---
Let me know what you think..Any input would be greatly apprecaited!

What exactly are you looking for and just how much extra cash would you consider? That's a pretty intensive laptop! I have an 12" ibook g4 1.07ghz with 768mb ram, 80gb 5400 rpm hard drive, 4x superdrive, toast 6 titanium, tiger, ilife '05, Civilization 3, iworks trial verson, Halo.... The list goes on. I don't know if I would do a trade or not (dep. on the wife's answer  ) The ibook comes with iskin keyboard cover, biokinetics case, ac adapter.... Just incase the wife says sure or if someone else has sommething similar to offer.

Well, it is a tough call.. On eBay these go for around $1500 (Way More with the Nvidia Video card, which this laptop can be upgraded to).. I paid $1774 for it a couple of months ago. The iBook is pretty souped up, so I would value it around $1050 or so.. So I don't know, $450 or so??
Your thoughts?

Hmmmm, let me think about it. I will have to talk to the wife about spending extra money. I am interested don't get me wrong, the only thing holding me back is her. I must say that you have a very FAST, very POWERFUL beast. In my opinion the only thing that would come remotely close would be a 12" pb with a superdrive and souped up hard drive, ram, etc. That would be your best best to look for in a trade with someone. For $1700 you can even BUY a brand new 12" pb plus get a superdrive bto option, possibly even have some cash left over. Sell it on ebay maybe is your best bet, I don't know. That's up to you.

Absolutly Understandable.. I have a 'ball n chain' too. I have had to turn down some really beauty offers before! I am considering selling straight up on eBay, but I love the MacRumors community so much, I would like to give you all first crack at it..
That being said, you are right. It is a very powerful machine.. It runs amazingly.. But I just don't need this much power. What I am hoping to do is to *get rid* of this laptop, (Trades or outright selling), then obtain a medium ground Apple Laptop (Newer iBook or 1Ghz-ish PB) to Compliment my PM G5, AND a slower, smaller Windows laptop, just for when I *need* it (Dell 700m or the like).. I understand that will most likely have to include some money on my behalf, so everyone keep that in mind!
Thanks again duder, keep me posted!

The 5100 is a decent machine, but I was hoping for something with a somewhat smaller footprint (700m, or even smaller Fujitsus).
Thanks for the offer though!

Just to make sure...that was a very considerate way of saying you'r not interested in trading for it, correct? If so I do wish you luck selling/trading it.
Thanks,
John

I am in NJ (we can meet half way), and I have a brand new Toshiba M45-S351 which I would trade along with a Maxtor one touch 120gb external hard drive.

The Satelite is a beautiful machine. Toshibas are built like tanks. However that would be more like a "cross trade" than a "downgrade." The one touch sweetens the deal, but I already have one :)
Thanks a lot for the offer though!

A few offers on the table, but nothing really exciting.. That being said, the 9300 is still available.
