each morning i find myself having to quit all apps and do a restart due to 10.8's habit of making the wifi turn off and the menu bar items all beach ball.

so i quit everything and always have to force quit mail for some reason.

but i noticed this this morning:

as you can see neither preview or quicktime are running, but according to the os they are and i can't restart because of them.

in fact, right now, even though i've opened neither program today, they can be found in the force quit menu.

neither of these apps are in the launch at startup menu.

has anyone else seen this?

I have something similar to this in Lion since I bought my Mac. Except, the programs had to be opened at one point for me. I could open the program, then close out of it, no light under the icon in the dock or icon completely gone from the dock, appears to be completely off. Yet when I look at the "Force Quit App" list, they will appear in there. In order for me to close QT or Preview, I have to force quit them. Very annoying. Although it has put me in the habit of hitting CMD+Q a lot more now.
