clean install w/o recovery hd

how do you do a clean install without having a recovery hd?

i installed the gm but its kinda of buddy.. i have a wake from sleep bug that sometimes my machine doesnt turn on. another thing that happened last night was i powered off my machine and my fan ran at full speed for nother 30-45 seconds.

figured id do a TM backup and resintall the OS and while i am at it, dont have a recovery hd

i know how to make a bootable thumb drive. i just want to install ML w/o the recovery. is there any way to format and merge the drives then install w/o having the recovery show up
