i just did a clean installed ML on my imac and now i wanna put my files back on but apprently the only backup showing up is from my time capsule which i don't use anymore how do i get my Wd My Book to show up so on my desktop?

Does the drive show up in Disk Utility or in Finder (press CMD+SHIFT+C to get an overview of connected devices)?
