Disk doesn't contain an EFI system partition?

Hello.

After unsuccessfully trying to install Mountain Lion due to countless errors I decided to verify my disk in the recovery partition's Disk Utility and it won't let me do it. It keeps saying. This disk doesn't contain an EFI system partition. I have no idea what this means will wiping my HDD fix it?
