Can I Hide the Disk icon on the desktop?

Is there any way to hide the Disk icon on the desktop so I can have a blank desktop (for my OCD needs 😉)?

If it matters, I am running Tiger 10.4.2

In the Finder preferences, deselect "Show Hard Disk icons". 🙂
