I don't think you're correct. Daihatsu is it's own brand, have their own factories but they also build some of the Toyota models in their assembly plants in Japan. Datsun is now Nissan, which is different from Daihatsu.

Yeah, you're right (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daihatsu#Company_history). At least, it is a subsidiary of Toyota, although not wholly-owned.

Yes, I actually owned a Datsun before the name change. It was at the beginning of front wheel drive models. Apple seems to be making a clean sweep in Japan. It's a good for Apple.

Toyota already announced plans for integration in at least some models, such as the Scion tC (http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2005/05/25/105553.html).

Not that what you're describing wouldn't be gangsta. :)

Does this news mean anything for me, a current Nissan owner? I have a 2004 Murano and I'd love to get iPod integration added to it somehow.

Otherwise I'll just have to keep using my cassette adapter I guess...

I've found the follwong option for Murano owners that want to connect an iPd without that unsightly (and horrible sounding) cassette adapter.

This allows you to use the the 3rd bak of radio station presets (bank C) as an iPod input. It looks pretty clean and tidy. I ordered on but haven't installed it yet.
